Useful Keyboard Shortcuts


Here’s a quick guide to some shortcuts in Blender I’ve found useful as a beginner:

1. Navigation and View

  • Middle Mouse Button (MMB): Rotate the viewport.
  • Shift + MMB: Pan the viewport.
  • Scroll Wheel: Zoom in and out.
  • Numpad 0: Switch to camera view.
  • Numpad 1 / 3 / 7: Front / Side / Top orthographic views.
  • Ctrl + Alt + Q: Split the viewport into four quadrants for multiple views.

2. Object Selection and Manipulation

  • Right-Click: Select objects (or left-click, depending on your settings).
  • G: Grab and move objects.
  • R: Rotate objects.
  • S: Scale objects.
  • X, Y, Z (after G, R, or S): Restrict movement to a specific axis.
  • Shift + D: Duplicate an object.

3. Editing Mode

  • Tab: Switch between Object Mode and Edit Mode.
  • A: Select/Deselect all.
  • B: Box select.
  • E: Extrude selected geometry.
  • Ctrl + R: Add a loop cut.
